MERRY HAPPY HOLIDAYS CHRISTMAS

XO Kristen

  1. Catholics actually invented Christmas to pacify the pagans that they forced to adopt their brand of Christianity. See, the didn't want to let go of their winter and solstice celebrations. Jesus never heard of Christmas, he'd been gone a long time by the time it was thought up. Also, history shows he wasn't born in December.

Still, Merry Christmas, Happy Solstice, Blessed Be, Happy (late) Hannuka and Festive whateveryoucall it. The Happy Holidays is a wish for happiness no matter what you celebrate. (Can you tell this song annoys me?) lol

  2. Lanie, I have my bachelors degree in theology. I'm aware of the origination of Christmas and that the birth of Christ was actually more likely in the Spring found by Theologians who theorize. There is no concrete evidence. Another correction. Jesus hadn't been gone. He had been RESURRECTED and ASCENDED for a short period when the Romans created the celebration of Christmas to coincide with winter solstice. Semantics right? HOWEVER, the idea of Christmas is to celebrate the coming of the Son of God to atone the world of our sins. That is the whole point. That is what Merry Christmas means to me. I don't get offended if someone sayd Happy Hanukuh or Happy Kwanza or even Happy Holidays to me. But you can bet your PC ass I'm saying Merry Christmas back because that's what I believe. Oh and I laughed when you said 'their brand' of Christianity. Roman Catholicism is a denomination. Not a brand. And lastly MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

  5. I'm sorry if I insulted your intelligence. It really wasn't intended that way. I also will except good wishes from any holiday - it's the song that bothers me because it seems that the writer is offended and not accepting of others and that's what got me going. I grew up with Christmas but now I enjoy the rich variety of lot of traditions.

I'm glad you enjoyed my word play. I think of denominations of "brands" sometimes because each one seems to "sell" their own version of the "Truth" which, when all said and done, have a lot of the same teachigns behind them when you cut it down to the basics.

    Have a safe weekend :)
