DAY 379 / JANUARY 13, 2011

I have a poll for my readers. My new friend Steve, from Zumba who I have recently mentioned, commented about how a 'Zumba tattoo' is in his near future and I thought to myself! Yes! I love the Zumba logo. It represents life and dance and fitness and I want to get a tattoo of it also.

This is the Zumba logo.

Now, I would get just the black part. No color and no circle. But where to put it? This is where you come in. I am leaning toward the back of my neck or my wrist. Not on my back because I have another tattoo planned for my shoulder/shoulder blade/back.

So, thoughts?

  1. My thought before I even read where you were thinking is your neck.

I am not a fan of wrist tats because you can't hide them. I work in a conservative environment and like the option of being able to hide them.

It reminds me of the Ohm sign too...

  2. How about no tattoo until you hit a smaller weight. Skin, shrinkage, maybe next week you will want to dance Salsa.. Go slow, tattoos are like luggage and ex-husbands, they are forever.

  3. I love tattoos. (Don't listen to Allan, what does he know??? HAHAHAHAHA just kidding)

First, be sure it is something you really really really want because like Allan said, they are forever. If you are really sure, I wouldn't get it on the neck if you already have something planned for your shoulder. It may not flow well together. Instead of the wrist, what about the inside of your ankle? Or even on the outside of the ankle? That's my suggestion. :)

  4. I'm with Allan. That logo is supercute, and my pic would be neck, but it's best to wait til you are at goal weight, then your tatoo will look good and not warped. ; )

  5. Will you still love that symbol in twenty, thirty, fifty years? Tattoos are for ever. :)

  6. I agree with Laryssa, the ankle would be my choice. The skin isn't quite as likely to change there as you lose so you wouldn't have to wait to get it. :)

  7. I think you should wait. You may love it now, but in the future it may seem as dated as 'disco' is today. Especially on the wrist or neck. As someone else stated in some careers tattoos are frowned upon (such as nursing), and who knows where you will be in 20 years!

  8. I'm a tattoo fiend so I always encourage new tattoos! I am usually not a big fan of getting 'brand' tattoos but the Zumba one (which I had never seen before) is pretty abstract so I think it'll look good! I would say back of your neck but how about waiting and using it as a reward for one of your weight loss goals? You don't have to wait until goal weight or anything but maybe once you get down to 250? I like wrist tattoos but since it's meant to be seen 'right-side' up, it might look better in a place that isn't constantly moving around, like your wrist.

At any rate, let us see it when you do get it!! :)

  9. I got my one and only tattoo back when I was in the 300s. I'm fortunate. My shrinkage hasn't changed my tat. I'm not sure if the neck would be free of shrinking issues. You may want to read up on that first. I wouldn't do your wrist..too noticeable. There WILL be times when it's appropriate to cover your ink.

  10. I agree with Allan, just wait and lose. Not to mention, OUCH!!! I'm such a chicken when it comes to needles.
Your body, your ideas so in the end you decide but you asked for thoughts.
Take care and have a blessed evening.

  11. I think back of the neck, easier to hide than wrist.

  12. Well I just consulted with my hubby who is a tattoo artist. So...how about back of the calf or foot? You can cover both of those spots, and I dont think the shrinkage factor would really come into play. Plus you could cover those spots if you really wanted to?
I have 6 fairly large tattoos (with lots more work planned) and I work in a corporate environment. Nobody I work with has a clue that I am tattooed, but I do have to choose my clothing carefully to keep up the illusion LOL! I think its a very personal thing, and as long as you are passionate about what you're tattooing on your body then go for it.

  14. I've often thought about getting a tattoo, I like the idea of getting one on the ankle! I like the zumba symbol, like how it flows!
